Pool Rules & Regulations


  Proof of Membership is required for entry. Your photo must be on file under your membership information.

Members must sign in at the lifeguard stand.

Guests must be signed in at the lifeguard stand with a member. Guests passes must be purchased in advance through your MemberSplash account. Cash will not be accepted.

Toys limited to those that can be contained in the water and should not be shared among users (no balls, water guns or items that can be airborne)

No glass. EVER.

Noodles, kickboards, etc. are permitted 

Floats permitted in adult pool 

No Lost & Found - any items left behind will be disposed of by the staff.

The Building  is closed to members. Employees only.

Lifeguards are on duty to maintain safety for all patrons. They have the authority to enforce any action in the interest of safety.

  • All children under the age of 10 must be directly supervised at all times. 

  • Non-swimmers or those requiring any type of flotation must be supervised by a qualified swimmer & remain within arm’s reach of the swimmer at all times. 

  • Children ages 10 and over must first pass a swim test in order to be at the facility unsupervised. Lifeguards may swim test any person at any time and enforce swim areas accordingly. The swim test sequence consists of: 

    • Step or jump into the water over your head. 

    • Return to the surface and float or tread water for one minute. 

    • Turn around in a full circle and find an exit. 

    • Swim 25 yards to the exit. 

    • Exit without using the ladder. 

Only members that are 18 and older are permitted to swim in the Adult Pool, unless permission is given by a lifeguard, manager, or board member. Swim lessons and other LGRA sponsored programs are permitted in the Adult pool at any time. 

  • The wading pool is strictly reserved for children ages 5 and under. 

  • Do not speak to or otherwise distract a lifeguard that is on surveillance duty. All questions and conversations should be directed to a lifeguard or employee when they are off the stand. 

  • Glass, profane or offensive behavior, illegal substances, running, horseplay, & hanging on the safety rope are all STRICTLY PROHIBITED. 

  • Alcohol can be consumed by those 21 and over, proof of age is expected. 

  • Diving is only permitted in the deep end of the main pool, where the water depth is greater than 5 feet. 

  • No flips or inward dives are allowed from the side of the pool. 

  • Floats and inflatable objects are permitted only in the adult pool. These items are prohibited in all other areas. 

  • Please be courteous to all other members and staff by cleaning up after yourself, especially after eating or drinking. Trash cans are provided throughout the property for your convenience. 

  • All members must immediately clear the property at closing time. 

  • The check-in station located at the gate is reserved for on-duty employees only. 

  • In the event of inclement weather, the pool will be closed for 30 minutes after the last visible lightning or sound of thunder. This is at the sole discretion of the lifeguards or manager on duty. 

Diving Board Rules

  • Only 1 person is allowed on the diving board at a time.

  • Dive directly in front of the board, after making sure the dive area is clear.

  • Swimming in the deep end is permitted when no divers are using the board.

  • Swimmers should clear the area immediately when a diver steps onto the board.

  • The following is prohibited on the diving board: Inward dives, back flips, double bouncing, floatation devices, goggles/face masks.

  • All users must pass a swim test in order to use the board.  Swimmers may not “catch” divers as they use the board.
    ATTENTION: Please exercise caution when using the diving board.  The maximum depth of our pool is 8 feet.

Courtesy & Etiquette

  • Lifeguards and employees are charged with ensuring safety at our pool and their authority is to be politely respected at all times.  In order to provide the safest environment, all parents/guardians should closely supervise your child.  The lifeguards cannot do their job if they are “babysitting” small children.

  • As a privilege, Ice is provided for drinks and coolers.  Ice should not be misused.

  •  Abuse of the property is unacceptable.

  • The building is available for use by rental only.

  • Please respect users of the adult pool by spending time with your children in the main pool area.  Children should not sit on the side of the pool or be seated in the chairs around the pool.

  • The music is at set volume and there is a list of acceptable stations.  Only a select number of board members may change the station, do not ask the guards to change the music.  

  • Coaches and lifeguards may accompany children in the adult pool for lessons or other programs when the main pool prohibits effective instruction.

  • Lifeguards have been instructed to remove repeat offenders from the pool and may ask children to sit out behind the lifeguard stand for a period of time (usually 15 minutes).

  • Members (adults or children) that are habitual offenders are a disruption to the enjoyment and safety of others at the pool.  Should this be an issue, a board member may contact the member or parents in order to reach an appropriate solution.  This may include, but is not limited to suspension or revocation of membership without a refund.

Weather Policy

In the event of inclement weather, the pool will be closed for 30 minutes after the last visible lightning or sound of thunder.  This is at the sole discretion of the lifeguards or manager on duty.

Guest Policy

The purpose of the LGRA Guest Policy is to provide a method to allow members to bring guests to the LGRA pool in a manner which does not cause hardship to the members or the organization.

  • Local guests (those who reside in the Richmond area) are allowed only five visits to the LGRA Pool per swim season at a cost of $5.00 a visit or by using a Guest Pass

  • Out of town guests (those who reside outside of the Richmond area and visiting a LGRA member) are allowed admission to the LGRA pool for a period of up to three weeks at a cost of $20.00 per week.

  • The pool is for members only. Members may bring guests with them to the pool for a fee of $5 each. The member must be present to sign in the guest. Guest passes must be purchased by the member in advance from their membership account

Babysitter's Pass Policy

The purpose of the LGRA $75.00 Baby Sitter’s Pass is to allow a non-LGRA member to accompany LGRA member’s children to the pool. The Baby Sitter’s Pass only allows the non-LGRA member admission to the LGRA Pool when accompanying children who are members of LGRA.

The Baby Sitter’s Pass does not allow:

  • Persons with a Baby Sitter’s Pass admission to the LGRA Pool without children who are members of LGRA (i.e. alone).

  • Persons with a Baby Sitter’s Pass to bring non-LGRA members (i.e. the non-member’s children, family members or friends) to the LGRA Pool at any time.

Rules are subject to change as deemed necessary by the LGRA Board of Directors.
